Structural Engineering manages the evaluation and design of structures. Structure can be explained as an assembly of different components that act as a group under stress conditions. Bridges, highways, buildings, transmission towers, trusses, water tanks, offshore structures, are common today. The primary function of designing a network is to protect its safety, functionality and economy under the most severe condition of use, during its lifespan. Use of basic scientific principles for safe, practical and cost effective solutions. Structural design is based on Mechanics and Strength of materials. Properties related to stress and deformations are important for structural engineering and construction. All material bodies undergo deformations when loads are applied on them. When the applied load is expelled, the body overcomes this deformation and recovers initial shape. This property is known as elasticity. Structural engineering design works a number of comparatively simple structural concepts to build complex structural systems. Structural engineers are important for making innovative and productive use of funds, structural elements and materials to achieve these goals. Structural Engineers design structures that must endure stresses and pressures inflicted through human use and environmental conditions. They configure structures, choose appropriate building material, inspect the construction work and ensure the structural soundness of buildings and structures.
