Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is bullying occurring over digital devices , such as cell phones , computers and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur via SMS, Text, and Apps, or online through social media , forums, or gaming where people can view, participate, or share content. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, fake, or mean content about another person. It may involve sharing personal or private information about someone else which causes embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying transcends the line into illicit or criminal behaviour. Although all states have laws that require schools to respond to bullying, many states do not include cyberbullying under these laws, or specify the role that schools should play in responding to bullying outside of school. Schools can either take action as required by law, or with local or school policies that allow them to discipline or take other action. Some states also have provisions for addressing bullying if it affects performance at school. You can learn about each state's laws and policies including whether they cover cyberbullying.
