Radiation Cystitis Open Access Articles
A highly damaging condition characterized by compromised bladder function, fibrosis and vascular damage is Radiation cystitis which develops in
cancer survivors due to radiation treatment. There are lot of studies in to the effects of radiation on the bladder in different genetic backgrounds which depicts the differences in severity in developing radiation cystitis after radiation treatment. Treatment of various pelvic cancers including prostate and cervical
cancer are treated by radiation therapy. Although effective it can damage tissue in the radiation field and cause long term damage. The studies of occurrence of Radiation cystitis is 25-80% depending on the difference in types and exposure of radiation according to
journals published.
