Physical
chemistry is the study of macroscopic
phenomena and particulates in chemical systems in terms of physical principles, practices and concepts such as motion, energy, force, time, thermodynamics, quantum chemistry, statistical mechanics, analytical dynamics, and chemical balance. Physical
chemistry has traditionally provided students with extensive training, and positioned them to work in a variety of scientific careers. Many people who are trained as physical chemists end up working as analytic chemists, where they work to understand the basic processes involved in analytical techniques, which enable them to improve and expand these techniques.
