Open Access Journals discuss
trauma as an emotional response to an appalling event, such as an accident or natural disaster. Shock and denial are typical, immediately after the event. Reactions in the longer term include erratic feelings, hallucinations, tense relationships, and even clinical effects such as headaches or nausea. Since
trauma responses occur across a wide spectrum, psychologists have established distinctions as a means of distinguishing between
trauma forms. Which include chronic depression,
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic developmental disorder. They can, however, often accept the very extreme to involve encounters that are extremely harmful, such as violence or torture. Everyone is processing a traumatic event differently because we are all facing them in our lives through the lens of prior experience.
