Trade Marks -impact-factor

A trademark is a recognizable insignia, expression, term, or emblem that denotes and legally differentiates a particular product from all other products of its kind. A trademark identifies a product exclusively as belonging to a particular company, and recognizes the brand's ownership of the company. The ultimate aim of trademark law is to prevent unfair competition by protecting the use of a symbol, term, emblem, slogan, design, domain name, etc. which distinguishes a company's products or services in a unique way. A federal trademark term is 10 years, with a renewal period of 10 years. However, the USPTO requires the registrant to be in the fifth to sixth year following the date of registration and they must file an affidavit stating that the mark is still in use.
