Scholarly Peer-review Journal On Atopic Dermatits

Atopic dermatitis ( AD) is a chronic, pruritic inflammatory skin condition (see image below) which typically affects the face (cheeks), neck, arms , and legs but usually spare the groin and axillary regions. AD usually begins in early infancy but also affects a significant number of adults. High levels of immunoglobulin E ( IgE) are commonly associated with AD. That this is the first disease to occur in a series of allergic diseases including food allergy , asthma, and allergic rhinitis, in order has given rise to the theory of the "atopic march," which suggests that AD is part of a progression that may lead to further allergic disease on other epithelial barrier surfaces.
