Reviews In Clinical Health Informatics
Health informatics (also known as
Health Information Systems) uses IT to organize and analyze
health records to improve
health outcomes.
Health Informatics deals with the resources, devices, and methods to use
health and medicine
information acquisition , storage , retrieval, and use. Tools include the medical terminology, computer technology,
information and communication systems. Healthcare informatics provides patients, doctors , nurses, hospital administrators, insurance companies and heath
information technicians with electronic access to medical records.
Health care informatics is the rapidly developing scientific field dealing with the storage , retrieval, and use of biomedical data,
information , and knowledge for problem solving and decision making. Computer
Biomedicine and
Health are related fields.
Health Informatics addresses four major interdisciplinary components; emerging technologies,
health management and epidemiology, advanced statistics, and
health systems.
Health Informatics' outlook is very broad as there are a variety of emerging new technologies that need to be understood, adapted, so they can be used further in
health systems and managed for continuous improvement.
Health computer science focuses on
information systems, informatics principles, and
information technology as it will be applied to delivery of
health care. It is an integrated discipline with specialized fields covering management science, principles of management engineering, and delivery of healthcare. The amount of technology and data used in clinical settings is high – from patient portals and appointment scheduling to vital sign monitoring machines and pacemakers, the power and sophistication of modern technology has been leveraged.
