Occupational First_aid
Occupational First Aid equips the participants for emergencies in a high risk work
environment and provide the skills necessary to be responsible for a first aid room. Each day, the course builds on knowledge of days prior, to provide a depth of understanding in the provision of first aid in a variety of situations. In addition to basic first aid skills, it includes advanced skills such as the use of oxygen, clinical assessments, and the use of the SMART triage system. Roles and responsibilities of the First Aider Management of unconscious, breathing and nonbreathing casualties using the DRSABCD Action Plan (including CPR and AED skills) Safe use of oxygen and associated therapy equipment Basic and advanced management of a variety of first aid situations including choking, medical emergencies, bleeding, fractures, soft tissue injuries, head, neck and spinal injuries, eye injuries, irrigation and more, Manual handling for lifting and moving patients, Triage using the internationally recognised SMART triage system Clinical assessment and vital sign observations, Post incident management, Risk assessments and legislation relating to the first aider, Designing, setting up and managing a first aid room, Managing a major incident, Personal Protective Equipment (for use in the course). “Occupational First Aid” publication.
