Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy ( CBT) is a method of talking therapy which can be used to treat people with a widespread range of mental health difficulties.  CBT aims to help people become aware of when they make negative assumptions, and of behavioral patterns which reinforce the skewed thinking. Cognitive therapy helps people develop alternative ways of thinking and behavior aimed at reducing their psychological suffering. The cognitive theory claims that mental illness is triggered by distorted cognitions of others, our world and ourselves. This deficient thinking could be due to cognitive deficiencies (lack of planning) or cognitive distortions (inaccurate processing of information.  Specifically, our thoughts decide our emotions and our behavior.
