Testosterone

Testosterone is the main anabolic steroid and male sex hormone. An important role is played by testosterone for the formation of male sex organs testes and prostates. Furthermore, testosterone is involved in health and well-being, and the prevention of osteoporosis. In general, androgens such as testosterone stimulate protein synthesis and, thus, the development of androgen receptor tissues. Testosterone can be identified as having virilisation and androgen effects. Testosterone is used as a drug in transgender people and non-binary persons for the treatment of males with too little to no natural testosterone development, other types of breast cancer and gender dysphoria. This is known as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), which maintains normal levels of serum testosterone.
