Streptomyces Coelicolor Impact Factor

 Streptomyces coelicolor may be a model organism for gram-positive soil bacteria of high G+C content that undergoes a posh life cycle of mycelial growth and spore formation and produces a spread of antibiotics and other drugs during the differentiation process. The genome of one strain of S. coelicolor was sequenced in 2002.It contains 8,667,507 bp, encoding 7,825 expected seeds, including more than 20 clusters of genes for synthesis of known or predicted natural products. Some species are noted for the assembly of broad-spectrum antibiotics, chemicals that the bacteria produce naturally to destroy or prevent other microorganisms' expansion.. Streptomyces are characterized as gram-positive aerobic bacteria of complex form. Streptomyces griseus may be a species of bacteria within the genus Streptomyces commonly found in soil. A few strains are also reported from deep-sea sediments. It is a Gram-positive bacterium with high GC content. Streptomyces is that the largest antibiotic-producing genus, producing antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic drugs and also a good range of other bioactive compounds, like immunosuppressants. The pulmonary symptoms are pneumonia and may lead to nodular or abscess formation.
