Periodontitis is a severe and chronic form of gum disease. It’s caused by bacteria that have been accumulate on the teeth and gums. As periodontitis disease progresses, the bones and teeth will be damaged. However, periodontitis disease can be treated early if proper oral hygiene is maintained, the damage can be prevented. The early signs of periodontitis include receding gums and the formation of pockets between the gums and the teeth. Once the infection gets beneath your gum line, periodontitis can destroy tissues, ligaments, and bones in the mouth that ultimately it leads to tooth loss.
