Lumbar Spine Open Access Articles

The region of the lumbar spine is commonly known as the lower back which consists of five vertebrae labeled from L1 through L5. The lumbar region is situated between the thoracic region or chest, region of the spine  and the sacrum. The lumbar spine typically has a slight curve is also known as lordosis. Common causes of low back pain which may include lumbar strain, nerve irritation,  radiculopathy, bony encroachment and the conditions of the bone and joints.  Lumbar strain is considered one of the most common causes of back pain. The injury can occur because of extreme use, improper use, or trauma. Studies show that heat and cold are effective ways to get the relief from back pain. Ice are the most beneficial when a person suffers from pain it is used directly, such as a strain. Applying an ice pack wrapped in the towel directly to the Spain can reduce the inflammation.
