Children with fewer siblings tend to remain in class longer than those with many siblings. Family planning can prevent closely spaced and ill-timed pregnancies and births, which contribute to a number of the world’s highest infant death rate rates. Infants of mothers who die as a results of parturition even have a greater risk of death and poor health.
