It is owned, maintained, fed by the farmers or on commercial farms to extract milk from them. Herd sizes vary according to the culture of the landholders and the social structure around the world. Dairy science focuses on the manufacture and production of all dairy products including milk. It takes knowledge of animal nutrition, reproduction, lactation and business to enter this field. Dairy scientists must be able to produce a healthy dairy herd, inspect dairy products and help with the management of dairy farms.Milk and dairy products are an important part of a diet. They're a good source of protein and energy , and contain a wide range of minerals and vitamins , including calcium, that are responsible for healthy bones and teeth.
