Civil-engineering-journals:

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the construction, design, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, dams, canals, airports, pipelines, sewerage systems, structural components of buildings, and railways. Civil engineering is conventionally broken into a number of sub-disciplines. It is considered the 2nd oldest engineering discipline after military engineering, and it is defined to differentiate non-military engineering from military engineering. It takes place in the public sector from municipal through national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through international companies. Engineering has stood as an aspect of life since the initial stages of human existence. The earliest practice of civil engineering may have begun between 4000 and 2000 BC in ancient Egypt, the Indus Valley Civilization, and ancient Iraq when humans abandoned a nomadic existence, creating a necessity for the creation of shelter. During this time, transportation became gradually important leading to the growth of the wheel and sailing.
