Cardiac Ischemia Review Articles

Myocardial ischemia occurs when blood flow to your heart is reduced, thus preventing sufficient oxygen from being given to the heart muscle. The reduced blood flow is usually the result of partial or complete blockage of the arteries (coronary arteries) in your heart. Myocardial ischemia, also known as cardiac ischemia, is reducing the ability of the heart muscle to pump blood. A sudden , severe blockage of one of the arteries in the heart can result in a heart attack. Myocardial ischemia could also be responsible for serious abnormal heart rhythms. Myocardial ischemia treatment involves improving blood flow to the muscle of the heart. Medications, a procedure for opening blocked arteries (angioplasty) or bypass surgery may be included. Journals like Cardiovascular Investigations: Open Access, Current Research: Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology all contain and deliberate review articles on Cardiac Ischemia
