Bovine Mastitis Open Access Journals

Bovine mastitis is the udder tissue 's chronic, inflammatory reaction from physical trauma or infections with microorganisms. Mastitis, a potentially lethal mammary gland infection, is the most common disease in dairy cattle worldwide. Often caused by udder infections, typically triggered by bacteria introduced during the milking process or by contact with the environment.mastitis triggers a drop in milk lactose concentration [1-3, 6, 8, 11].In affected quarters, the decline in milk lactose is probably due in part to damage to the alveolar epithelial cells. Mastitis can cause a breast abscess to develop as it progresses.Severe cases of mastitis if left untreated may be fatal. Mastitis is spread most frequently by contact with the milking system, and by infected hands or other materials.
