Biochemistry, sometimes known as biological chemistry, is the study of chemical processes within living and reference organisms. Biochemical processes stimulate the complexity of life. A sub-field of biology and chemistry alike, biochemistry can be divided into three areas; Structural Biology Enzymology and Metabolism. Biochemistry is closely related to molecular biology, the study of the molecular mechanisms of biological phenomena. Much of the biochemistry deals with the functions, structures, and interactions of biological macromolecules, such as nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, which provide cell structure and perform many of its life-related functions. The chemistry of the cell also depends on the reactions of smaller ions and molecules.
