Antimicrobial Susceptibility Scientific Journals

Antimicrobial susceptibility tests are wont to determine which specific antibiotics a specific bacteria or fungus is sensitive to. Most often, this testing complements a Gram's method and culture, the results of which are obtained much sooner. The goal of antimicrobial susceptibility testing is to predict success or failure of antibiotic therapy. Tests are performed in vitro , and measure the expansion response of an isolated organism to a specific drug or drugs. Select a pure culture plate of 1 of the organisms to be tested. Aseptically emulsify a colony from the plate within the sterile saline . Repeat until the turbidity of the saline visually match that of the quality turbidity. Take sterile swab and dip it into the broth the culture of organism. There are two methods of bacterial culture and antibiotic susceptibility are commonly used in veterinary medicine, (1) the disk diffusion technique and (2) the broth dilution technique. Both methods identify the infecting pathogen and the antibiotics that are likely to inhibit its growth. Antibiotics are drugs used to treat bacterial infections. Viral infections do not respond to antibiotic treatment. ... This is antibiotic resistance. Antibiotics aren't effective against viral infections like the cold , most sore throats, and therefore the flu.
