Antidepressant Drugs

Depression is a mental illnesses characterized by pathological changes in mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, low energy, and poor concentration .It can be severe and some times Fatal. Antidepressant drugs are used to relieve or prevent psychic depression. They work by altering the way in which specific chemicals, called neurotransmitters, which work in our brains (i.e. in the case of depression, some of the neurotransmitter systems don’t seem to be working properly). It increase the activity of these chemicals in our brains. It enhance alertness and may result in an increased output of behaviour. Potentiate directly or indirectly the action of Dopamine, Serotonin, Nor adrenaline
