Perinatal-medicine Scholarly
The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine may be a nationally recognized group of neonatologists who provide care to critically ill newborn infants, educate future pediatricians, neonatologists and
neonatal nurse practitioners, and conduct research to know mechanisms of disease, improve patient outcomes and advance medical education. Faculty members within the Division are actively exploring different areas of
neonatal research. Collaborative efforts exist with members of the Divisions of Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Nephrology, and Pediatric
Pulmonology, and therefore the Departments of Radiology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, general medicine ,
Pathology and Obstetrics-Gynecology. The Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship is meant to supply a solid background in clinical neonatology and research techniques allowing trainees the pliability and opportunities to develop a career in academic medicine. The program fulfills the wants set forth by the American Board of Pediatrics, Sub-Board of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is fully accredited. Perinatal psychological state refers to a woman's psychological state during pregnancy and therefore the postpartum period. The overwhelming majority of research on perinatal psychological state examines non-psychotic common perinatal mental disorders (CPMDs), and therefore the majority of studies focus specifically on
anxiety and depression.
