Diabetes mellitus: Metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Type 2 diabetes, the foremost prevalent sort of the disease, is usually asymptomatic in its early stages and may remain undiagnosed for several years.
