Traumatic Brain-Injury

Traumatic brain injury ( TBI) is an external mechanical force non-degenerative, non-congenital insult to the brain, possibly leading to permanent or temporary impairment of cognitive, physical, and psychosocial functions, with associated diminished or altered state of consciousness. The TBI definition was not consistent and tends to vary depending on the specialties and circumstances. The term brain injury is also used synonymously with head injury, which may not be related to neurological disabilities Traumatic brain injury usually results from a violent blow to the head or body or from a jolt. An object that penetrates brain tissue can also cause traumatic brain injury, such as a bullet or shattered piece of skull.
