Subcutaneous Emphysema High Impact Factor Journals

The air entering under the skin is subcutaneous emphysema. The skin that fills the chest wall or neck usually has this effect, but it may also occur in other areas of the body. Subcutaneous emphysema is a symptom of painful tissue swelling due to air tracking in tissue planes. The head and neck of the drainage sites are usually seen over the chest wall. Palpation evokes a typical tissue paper sensation under the fingers. Air can track into, and down the limbs into, mediastinum, retroperitoneum, scrotum.
