Earth science or
geoscience comprises all of the planet Earth based areas of natural science. This is a branch of science that deals with the Earth's physical and chemical structure and its environment. Earth science is a branch of planetary science, but with a much older history.
Earth sciences are both reductionist and systemic in approach. It is also space-based analysis of Earth and its neighbours. Some earth scientists use their knowledge of the planet to find energy and mineral resources and to grow them. Others are researching the effect of human activities on the
climate on Earth, and developing strategies to protect the earth.
