Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Top Open Access Journals
Polycystic ovary
syndrome (PCOS) may be a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male
hormone (androgen) levels. The
ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs. The exact explanation for PCOS is unknown. Early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may reduce the risk of long-term complications such as type 2
diabetes and heart disease. Polycystic ovary
syndrome (PCOS) is a condition that affects a woman's
hormone levels. Women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. This
hormone imbalance causes them to skip menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to get pregnant. Having PCOS does not mean you can't get pregnant. PCOS is one among the foremost common, but treatable, causes of
infertility in women. In women with PCOS, the hormonal imbalance interferes with the expansion and release of eggs from the
ovaries (ovulation). If you don't ovulate, you can't get pregnant. Modest weight loss will not cure PCOS, but it will help. Weight loss can restore the traditional function of the
ovaries and end in normal
hormone production. This may successively cause improvements in symptoms of PCOS, like excess facial and hair growth, acne or scalp hair loss.
