Osteoporosis-studies

Osteoporosis causes the bones to become weak and brittle — so brittle that falling or even slight stresses such as bending over or coughing can cause a fracture. Fractures associated with osteoporosis occur most often in the hip, wrist or spine. Bone is living tissue that is constantly breaking down and being replaced. Osteoporosis occurs when new bone creation is not matching the loss of old bone. Osteoporosis has an effect on men and women of every race. But white and Asian women — especially older women who have gone through menopause — are at the most risk. Medicines, a healthy diet and exercise in weight can help prevent bone loss or strengthen already weak bones
