Nursing Informatics
The goals of this role are to 'increase efficiency, cut costs and boost quality of patient care. A nurse informatician can serve as an important bridge between clinical staff and technical advancement as a professional with skills in both
nursing and technology. Since most people in those roles have strong backgrounds in clinical nursing, they can ensure that the tools and procedures being implemented are user-friendly and practical for the rest of the staff. They can also focus new technology training on how it will improve their patient care ability. To interpret data as usable knowledge and information, it seems necessary to prepare skilled nurses to deal with selecting, developing, implementing and evaluating IT. In the
nursing world, there should be empowerment of four domains. Incorporating undergraduate and diploma programs into courses. Could be designing graduate programs. Formal and informal continuing
education programs for on-the-job nurses and PhD graduated nurses fellowships may be useful. Now, in the Internet age, the data was expanded to include a wider range of potential users including the patient. Prescriptions can be written online, and accessed through the pharmacy of the patient. They can be processed and will often be ready before the patient arrives at the drug store. Test laboratories can upload the blood test results and other types of testing, so that medical personnel can see and use this information.
