Neonatal End Of Life Journals

Neonate palliative treatment for a life-limiting illness is an aggressive and complete approach to care from the point of diagnosis or acknowledgment across life , death and beyond. This includes physical , mental, financial, and spiritual aspects, and focuses on enhancing the baby's quality of life and helping the family. This involves treating distressing symptoms, having brief breaks and taking care of death and bereavement. Although advancements in neonatal medicine have improved the likelihood of maintaining life for many babies, in the neonatal era (birth to 27 days of life) more babies still die than at any other point in childhood. Despite this figure, much remains unclear about both the needs and the treatment of these critically ill babies. In many of those babies and their families, palliative care is a viable choice.
