Dear Collogues,

COVID-19, the current infectious disease that has uprooted our lives, social relationships and working practices, has turned out to be an unavoidable opportunity to rethink our integrated research and strive to drive attention to   those we care most about.

The COVID‐19 pandemic, also known as the coronavirus pandemic, is the world's current pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19), caused by extreme acute respiratory coronavirus syndrome 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2). The outbreak was first detected in Wuhan, China, December 2019. This modern coronavirus with a high degree of pathogenicity first infected China through a transmission from animals to human and there have been over two million confirmed cases. A couple of months later, thousands of patients globally need intensive care and billions of people are living under national lockdowns. No one is exempted from the medical, psychological, and economic ravages of this pandemic. International efforts of the scientific community are directed towards finding effective treatments and vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.

Within this Special Issue, we accept original research articles and state-of-the-art reviews are regarding the current knowledge and future perspectives on SARS-CoV-2 (including physiopathology, virology, genetics, epidemiology, transmission, etc.), it may also include the COVID-19 Impact in Rheumatology; COVID-19 phenotypic expression (in the general population and in specific populations such as children); diagnostic and therapeutic approaches; biomarkers for the extent of disease and reaction to treatment, etc.

The journal also incorporates original papers inside the assorted fields of rheumatology, clinical experimentation as well as medicine, pathologic process, immunology, immunopathology, microbiology, clinical problems involving joints, soft tissues, auto-immune diseases, heritable connective tissue disorders and different types of radiological studies.
