Mycobacterium Bovis Infection

A part of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, Mycobacterium Bovis is an important cause of disease in animals, but it can also cause disease in humans. Transmission to humans usually occurs after near contact with infected animals or consumption of raw dairy products that are not pasteurized. The symptoms of human illness caused by M. Bovis are similar to the ones caused by M.Tuberculosis. Though M. Bovis has a greater risk of inducing extrapulmonary disease. In graduate research, M. Only Bovis may differentiate itself from M. Biochemical or genetic testing of tuberculosis.
