Mycobacteria-macrophage Interactions

Tuberculosis is considered as a deadly disease. The study shows that nearly 8.6 million people are affected by tuberculosis and 1.6 million people have died due to this disease. As the bacteria develop the drug resistance so it is difficult to treat patients globally. Much research is processed with the help of techniques to produce novel therapeutic targets for the developing drugs. These drugs can treat drug-resistant tuberculosis. Mycobacteria is an intercellular pathogen present in the macrophages. The mechanism under these interactions is important to develop the Mycobacteria host for the targeted therapeutics. They are eons shaped for the evolution in the host and it is considered as a successful human intracellular pathogen.
