Membrane Protein Best Online Journals

Membrane proteins are popular and scientifically important — about one-third of all human proteins are membrane proteins, and more than half of all medications are targets. Nonetheless, compared to Other protein classes, the determination of membrane protein structures remains largely a challenge due to the difficulty of establishing experimental conditions that can preserve the correct protein conformation insulated from its native environment. Biological membranes consist of a continuous double layer of lipid molecules which contain membrane proteins. Although the lipid bilayer provides the basic structure of the biological membranes, the membrane proteins perform most of the specific tasks of the membrane and thus give its characteristic functional properties to each type of cell membrane. Membrane proteins are common and medically important — about one-third of all human proteins are membrane proteins, and these are targets for more than half of all drugs. However, compared to other protein classes, the determination of membrane protein structures remains a major challenge due to the difficulty in establishing experimental conditions that can preserve the right conformation. It follows an open access publishing model that enables research articles to be disseminated to the global community at no cost. To develop its standards, it has members of the world-quality editorial board. Journal of Glycobiology is one of the largest online publications reporting Membrane Protein based papers.
