Marine Microbial Enzymes

Marine microbial enzymes have extensive applications in bio industries. Selection of microorganisms for enzyme creation at the industrial level needs good yield and high production rate. A volume of enzymes such as amylase, caseinase, lipase, gelatinase, and DNases have been discovered from microbes insulated from extreme marine environments. Such enzymes are thermostable, tolerant to a wide-ranging range of pH and other strict conditions required in industrial applications. Novelty in their structure and characteristics has revealed promising scope to the researchers in academia and industry. In this chapter, we present a bird's eye view on recent research works in the arena of enzyme production from marine origin as well as their potential biological applications relevant to human health. Marine microorganisms have to tolerate habitats characterized by extreme conditions of salinity, temperature or pressure. Their enzymes present concomitant features.
