The use of the Internet for health education has been increasingly growing. It is estimated that 85 per cent of the adult U.S. population are using the Internet as of August 2012. Approximately 80 per cent of Internet users have checked for health information via the Internet. It is estimated that approximately 4.5 per cent of all Internet searches are related to health. The Internet is also changing the way people get health information and use it. The Pew Internet and American Life survey found that 34% of internet users read someone else's opinions or observations on health or medical problems online, 24% of internet users reviewed online reviews of specific medications or medical procedures, 18% of internet users went online to search people who have concern about their health.
