Human Factors Open-access Journals
"Human factors relate to environmental, organizational, and work-related factors and human and individual characteristics that can affect
health and safety at work." The area of Human Factors and Ergonomics is primarily the analysis of human strengths and weaknesses in designing healthy and productive processes, computers, devices, and organizations to optimize human efficiency and effectiveness. Such programs may be in engineering or
psychology departments, and maybe primary degrees or areas of specialization. This particular area typically requires practitioners to hold either a Master's or Ph.D. degree. Interventions of human factors will not be effective if those aspects are considered in isolation. The spectrum of what we mean by human factors encompasses organizational structures and is far broader than conventional human factors/ergonomics views. Human factors can and should be included in a successful safety management program, and should, therefore, be analyzed similarly to any other method of risk control.
Open Access Human Factors
Journals are open to the reader freely without political, legal or technological obstacles other than those inseparable from accessing the Internet itself. Advantages and disadvantages of
Open Access Human Factors
Journals are the subjects of much discussion among scholars and publishers. A few apparent benefits of
Open Access Ergonomics publications include unrestricted access to scholarly
articles irrespective of association with a subscription library, lower university and
business testing costs, as well as increased
media access and better citation rates for the author. Ergonomics Open-access is a publication devoted to providing analyzes, observations and evidence relevant to critical issues in the understanding of the science community.
