Health Economy is a branch of economics concerned with issues related to efficiency , effectiveness, value and behavior in health and health care production and consumption. In determining how to improve health outcomes and lifestyle patterns through interactions between individuals, health care providers, and clinical settings, the health economics is important. Health economists primarily research the operation of health care systems and activities that influence health, such as smoking, diabetes and obesity. Health economists assess various types of financial information: costs, charges, and expenses. Uncertainty is intrinsic to health, both as regards patient outcomes and as regards financial concerns. The knowledge gap between a doctor and a patient creates a situation of distinct advantage for the doctor which is called asymmetric information.
