Geology is a Greek word Geo means Earth and logos means science. Geology is a branch of science dealing with the study of Earth. It is also known as Earth science. The study of Earth comprises of the whole earth, it's origin, structure, composition and history including the development of life and the nature of processes. The study of Earth is classified into four types. They are physical geology, historical geology, engineering geology and seismology. Physical geology examines the material and processes of the earth. Historical geology examines the origin and evolution of planet through time. geological data, techniques and principles to the study of rock and soil surfacing materials, and ground water is the application of Engineering geology. Geoscientist are the stewards or caretakers of Earth's resources and environment.
