Genome Medicine Review Articles
A
genome is an organism's complete set of DNA, including all of its genes. Each
genome contains all of the knowledge needed to create and maintain that organism. In humans, a replica of the whole genome—more than 3 billion DNA base pairs—is contained altogether
cells that have a nucleus. DNA is that the molecule that's the hereditary material altogether living cells. Genes are made from DNA, then is that the
genome itself. A
gene consists of enough DNA to code for one protein, and a
genome is just the sum of an organism's DNA.
Genome is defined as all of a somatic cell's genetic information, or a group of haploid chromosomes. An example of a
genome is what determines the physical characteristics of a person. In most living things, the
genome is formed of a chemical called DNA. The
genome contains genes, which are packaged in
chromosomes and affect specific characteristics of the organism. The work of the Human
Genome Project has allowed researchers to start to know the blueprint for building an individual . As researchers learn more about the functions of genes and
proteins, this data will have a serious impact within the fields of
drugs , biotechnology, and therefore the life sciences.
