Endodontics Impact Factor
Endodontics is the branch of
dentistry that specialises in dealing with the cause, diagnoses, prevention and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp. Dental pulp is the part in the centre of a tooth made up of living connective tissue and cells. The word “Endodontics” comes from the Greek roots endo-meaning “inside”- and odont- meaning “tooth”. All dentists are trained in diagnoses and endodontic therapy, but with especially difficult cases you might find you are referred to an endodontic specialist. Once they have finished dental schooling, an endodontist will study for a further two to three years of advanced
education in treatments such as a root canal procedure; practicing further techniques and treatments in a much greater depth.
Endodontics has come a very long way in the past decade and has vastly improved the quality of dental treatment. An endodontist might perform a range of procedures including:
