Disc Degeneration Open Access Articles

Degenerative disc is an age-related condition that occurs when one or more disks between the spinal column vertebrae deteriorate or break down, leading to pain. Weakness, numbness and discomfort could be radiating down the knee. Degenerative disc disease refers to back or neck pain symptoms caused by wear-and - tear on the spinal disc. Degenerative disc disease typically consists of a low-level chronic pain with more severe pain in intermittent episodes. The doctor will study the patient records and conduct a physical test to identify degenerative disc disease. The doctor can prescribe imaging tests such as X-rays, a magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI) scan or a computed tomography ( CT) scan to get a closer look at the discs and bony structures. It can help in making the diagnosis.
