Journal article is sometimes referred to as a scientific paper, a peer-reviewed paper, or a scholarly research article. Journal articles are often referred to together as The Literature in a given field. Most frequently journal articles are primary research articles. They can also be Review Papers, though. These kinds of articles have different purposes and demands. Sometimes, a new tool or method is described in an article.
