 Any substance that has been engineered to interact with biological systems for a medical purpose defines the term Biomaterials. The interaction can be through the treatment or diagnostic one. According to science Biomaterials is about fifty years old. The study of biomaterials is known as biomaterials science or biomaterials engineering. For the development of new products biomaterials have developed steady and strong growth over its history by investing large amounts of money with many companies. Biomaterials science includes elements of medicine, chemistry, tissue engineering, biology, materials science and is noted that it is different from a biological material. Additional care should be exercised in defining a biomaterial as biocompatible.
