 Bacillus cereus is a rod-shaped, gram-positive, bacterium, locomotion, anaerobic, beta-hemolytic, a bacterium that forms in the soil and food. The definite name, cereus, which means "wax", refers to the appearance of colonies that grow on blood agar. Some bacterias are harmful to humans that cause food-borne diseases, while other strains can be valuable as animal probiotics. The bacterium classically shrinks from fried rice portions that sit at room temperature for hours. BServile bacteria are the facultative anaerobes, like the other members of the Basilus, can produce protective endospores.Its virulence factors include serolysin and phospholipase C. The Bacillus cereus group comprises of seven species: B. anthracis, B. cereus sensu stringo, B. thuringiensis, B. pseudomycoides, B. mycoides and B. cytotoxicus.
