 Automation is the autonomous execution of a task by a computer or program previously performed by a human being. Automation or automated control is the use of multiple control systems for running equipment such as machinery, manufacturing processes, boiler and heat treatment ovens, telephone network switching, ship steering and stabilization, aircraft and other applications with limited or decreased human interference. Some processes have been completely automated. Automation was accomplished by different means, usually in combination, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and computers. Complicated systems, such as modern factories, aircraft, and ships, typically use all of these techniques together.
