Up Stream Bioprocess-Journals

A bioprocess refers to a process involving the creation of desired products using full living cells or their components – think of bacteria, enzymes, chloroplasts. The upstream process is defined as the whole process from early cell isolation and cultivation to cell banking and cell culture expansion of cells to the final harvest of "culture termination and live cell batch collection." Processes for the production of therapeutic cells can be divided into upstream processes and downstream processes. The upstream process is based on a good understanding of cellular phenomena which is applied in an industrial environment. The more complex the host organism becomes, the more complex are those phenomena.
