Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic
brain injury ( TBI) is a sudden
brain trauma caused by a blow to the head or a jolt. Popular causes include collisions, falls, sports accidents and assaults by car or motorcycle. Lesions can range from mild concussions to serious permanent damage to the brain. While treatment for mild TBI may include rest and medication, severe TBI may require intensive care and life-saving surgery. Many who survive a
brain injury can face permanent effects in their physical and mental capability, as well as emotions and personality. Many people recovering from mild to serious TBI may require therapy to heal and relearn skills.
