Knee replacement, also called knee arthroplasty or total knee replacement, may be a surgery to resurface a knee damaged by arthritis. Metal and plastic parts are wont to cap the ends of the bones that form the knee , alongside the kneecap. This surgery could also be considered for somebody who has severe arthritis or a severe knee injury.Knee replacement surgery may be a treatment for pain and disability within the knee. The foremost common condition that leads to the necessity for knee replacement surgery is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is characterized by the breakdown of joint cartilage. Damage to the cartilage and bones limits movement and should cause pain. People with severe degenerative joint disease could also be unable to try to to normal activities that involve bending at the knee, like walking or climbing stairs, because they're painful. The knee may swell or "give-way" because the joint isn't stable.
